Aero Club- Team Quatlas
Team Quatlas is the official aeromodelling team of Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Established in 2015, the team comprises passionate and dedicated students from multiple engineering disciplines who collaborate to design, develop, fabricate and test radio-controlled aircraft. The initiative provides valuable hands-on experience in aerodynamics, structural design, propulsion, manufacturing, technical documentation, teamwork and project management.
The team has represented the institute at the prestigious SAE Aero Design Competition held annually in the USA, including SAE Aero Design West 2019 at Van Nuys, California. At SAE Aero Design West 2022, held from 8–10 April in Van Nuys, Team Quatlas competed against 30 teams from leading universities worldwide. Among the three participating teams from India, Quatlas was the only team from Karnataka.
The team achieved the following distinctions:
- 2nd place in the Technical Written Design Report
- 10th place in the Technical Presentation
- 9th place in the Overall International Standings
- 1st among all participating Asian teams
These achievements reflect the team’s technical competence, innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration and continued excellence in aeromodelling and aerospace engineering.
