About the Department

Overview

Established in 1992 at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), Bengaluru, the School of Architecture is an autonomous institution affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and recognized by both the Council of Architecture (CoA) and AICTE. Guided by a mission to blend academic rigor with human-centric design, the department offers holistic architectural education that balances core theoretical concepts with hands-on, sustainable practices across local and regional scales. In addition to its undergraduate degree, the school has offered a specialized, 2-year full-time Master of Landscape Architecture (M.Arch) program since 2011, focusing on community-scale planning, landscape construction technology, and environmental policy, and 2-year full-time Master of Advanced Architecture (M.Arch) program since 2025. Learning is driven by an expert faculty holding advanced degrees from prestigious global institutions, complemented by visiting industry practitioners specializing in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design. Beyond academics, the department actively leads cutting-edge research, participates in global conferences, and operates an in-house consultancy wing responsible for major institutional projects, including the redevelopment of the MSRIT campus.
