About the Department

Overview

Established in 2021 with an initial intake of 60 students, the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) is committed to providing quality education and fostering innovation in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The department is supported by eminent professors and experienced faculty members, including faculty with doctoral qualifications, who actively contribute to research through publications in reputed refereed journals and international conferences. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, and learning facilities that provide students with an environment conducive to academic excellence, experimentation, and innovation. Regular technical seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and hackathons are organized to enhance students' technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and industry readiness. The department places equal emphasis on the overall development of students by encouraging participation in extracurricular, co-curricular, and sports activities. The curriculum incorporates a strong focus on hands-on learning and practical sessions, enabling students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems. Students are also encouraged to pursue MOOC-based online courses through platforms such as NPTEL, IIT Bombay, Coursera, Udacity, and edX to broaden their knowledge and stay updated with emerging technologies. Through its strong emphasis on academics, research, innovation, practical learning, and holistic development, the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning strives to prepare students to meet the evolving demands of industry and society.

To facilitate students in designing and developing systems, products or simulations using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. To develop skills in graduates to become lifelong independent learners and be successful in industries, entrepreneur as well as research activities. AI & ML lab

The department is equipped with a well-furnished computer laboratory comprising 70 Lenovo ThinkCentre M70T desktop systems, providing students with a robust and reliable computing environment for academic, programming, practical, and project-based activities. Each system is powered by an Intel Core i7-10700 processor, supported by 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM, a 256 GB NVMe SSD for fast system performance, and a 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD for ample data storage. The systems feature Intel UHD Graphics, onboard sound, and are complemented by a Lenovo keyboard, mouse, and 19.5-inch monitor. With high-performance configurations and sufficient storage and connectivity, the laboratory is well equipped to support programming, software development, data analytics, project work, and other technology-driven learning activities.

The server is equipped with dual Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors operating at 2.3 GHz with turbo speeds up to 3.2 GHz, offering a total of 24 cores and 48 threads for efficient multi-user and parallel processing. It features 64 GB RAM, a PERC H730 integrated RAID controller, 2 × 800 GB Dell RAID-intensive SSDs, and 3 × 2.8 TB 10K RPM SAS hot-plug hard drives, ensuring reliable, high-speed storage and data protection. With dual 10 Gbps and dual 1 Gbps network connectivity, redundant 750W Platinum Grade power supply units, and a dedicated keyboard, mouse, and 19.5-inch TFT monitor, the server provides a dependable backbone for hosting applications, database management, virtualization, networking experiments, and advanced computing requirements within the laboratory.

For graphics-intensive and GPU-accelerated applications, the workstation is equipped with a Gigabyte NVIDIA RTX 3070 8 GB GDDR6 GPU and an ARGB 360 liquid cooling system. Additional features include a 1000W Gold-grade modular SMPS, thermal glass ATX cabinet, DVD writer, and a Dell SE2422F Full HD monitor, along with keyboard and mouse.
