Humanities and Social Sciences

The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences at Ramaiah Institute of Technology .Established in 2008, enriches engineering education through courses in technical communication, professional ethics, economics, management and constitutional studies. The department runs soft-skills and language enhancement initiatives that strengthen student employability.

The Department of Humanities has Nine faculty members, with Three awarded Ph.D. degree and remaining Guest faculties . The department engages in teaching Communication skills and soft skills, Constitution of India and professional ethics. Kannada, Communication and Life skills for BE/B.Arch. students. Apart from this the department runs special classes/Bridge courses in Communicative English to train NRI and rural students in English language usage. The faculty members engage in teaching-learning activities, research publications and conducting workshops for students to build social skills and broaden critical and creative competencies. The department is also equipped with an English Language Lab located in LHC block. First Year BE students take this course as a part of the subject ‘Professional Communication and Life skills’. Building Listening, Speaking skills, Power Point Presentations and Group activities form integral part of the course.
