About the Programme
The Department of Biotechnology, established in 2012, offers a two-year M.Tech. Biotechnology programme with an intake of 18 students. The programme is designed to provide advanced and specialized education in Biotechnology by integrating life sciences with engineering principles and modern technological approaches. It fosters a rigorous academic and research-oriented learning environment that enables students to develop in-depth knowledge, analytical skills, and practical expertise in contemporary and emerging areas of Biotechnology. The department is supported by well-equipped laboratories, computational and simulation facilities, and provides opportunities for students to undertake advanced laboratory work, research projects, innovation, and interdisciplinary studies. The M.Tech. curriculum emphasizes the biology–engineering interface and focuses on application-oriented and emerging areas of Biotechnology, equipping students with the technical competence, problem-solving abilities, and research skills required for careers in biotechnology industries, research and development organizations, and academia, as well as for pursuing doctoral (Ph.D.) studies and advanced research.
